Improving IPv6 Peering: Insights from ITNOG10

Pubblished 2026

Shifting from competition to collaboration to build resilient network architectures.

The 10th-anniversary edition of the Italian Network Operators Group (ITNOG10) in Bologna proved to be a milestone event for the national tech community. One of the undisputed highlights of the Day 2 afternoon tracks was Federico Paesani’s insightful presentation on “Improve IPv6 Peering.”

In a digital landscape where IPv6 adoption is no longer optional but an absolute necessity, sharing practical strategies to improve peering resilience is highly valuable. The presentation offered actionable tips and deep technical insights tailored for the community’s current challenges. Furthermore, attendees were provided with comprehensive offline documentation, including over 30 pages of IPv6 peering configurations for major professional router vendors.

The overarching message from ITNOG10 was clear: the telecommunications sector must shift from pure competition to active collaboration to build a future-proof internet.
